ok, i dunno if 'stage' is the correct word...but i'm too tired to think further now...it's the end of the my first teaching week in my sch (it shall be referred to as such to achieve anonymity)...
hm...students-wise, yup, it is definitely (up till now lah, at least!) much better than being in a sec sch (i'm assuming the usual neighbourhood kind or slightly better than average kind of school). Discipline is not too great a problem...it is nothing compared to the 'ordeals' that many sec teachers go through. It could be due to the ranking of the sch..but i think generally i hear from other jc teachers too that discipline is not a prob. Well, having said that, it doesn't mean that i don't have any--- among them, being having to keep track of attendance (i mean, really monitoring it) n deal with students who habitually skip ur lessons! About 2 each class. For some, i haven't seen them since my first lesson! :( hm.. gonna monitor it more closely after June hols. Although i understand why they do it (being from a naughty class myself), this cannot be condoned if they consistently do it...was quite happy when one of my classes (almost all) stayed back for the last double period lesson of the day. I have heard that many in that class tend to skip that lesson. So, happy to see them turn up! and we had a good session =)
Of cos' , one can't please all n i have this sense that not all like me but i'll try n make my lessons more interesting :) hm..i hope that i'll be able to build strong relationships with some of my students :) and yes, i enjoy talking with young adults, esp. if they are generally quite nice people.
Oh dear, i've rambled on so much on teaching...time to perhaps change topic. hm...yup, m trying to separate work life from personal life to maintain my long-term sanity :) Personal life-wise, sigh...just to say that there was a communication hiccup this week between my fren and me (due to IT error). Perhaps added to the hiccup was also elements of unfavourable cirumstances. What to do? *shrugs shoulders* But nvm lah, there shouldn't be any misunderstanding. So, it should be fine.
part of what has made work life more bearable is working with nice colleagues (i see this as part of personal life as well cos' they make me happy!), a few of whom are my ex-classmates. =p i need to learn more...but b4 that, i need to recharge...ok, enuff for now...see ya!
